ソーシャルデザインは、社会問題の解決に向けて、市民のために市民とともに、有意義なものを考え出そうとする仕事です。デザインされるのは、空間でも、道具でも、事業でも、何でもありえます。ソーシャルデザインの呼び名は、利益をあげるよりも、社会への貢献を重んじるデザイナーの姿勢をあらわす言葉として、今世紀に広まりました。本展示では、現代社会におけるデザインの意味について考えをめぐらします。
Social design is the act of creating solutions to social problems together with citizens. It can take many forms—spaces, tools, projects, and everything in between—all serving a central social purpose. The concept has become increasingly recognized in this century, reflecting designers’ growing commitment to society over profit. This exhibition invites you to reconsider what design truly means today.
第１章「デザインの力」では、デザインとはいかなる活動なのかを問い直します。第２章「社会を考える」では、現在社会において考え直してみたいことを挙げています。第３章「生み出す喜び」では、人々が楽しくものを生み出すことを目指すデザインの仕事をとらえます。第４章「ものの優しさ」では、人に優しいものを生み出すデザインの仕事をとらえます。第５章「人と人を結ぶ」では、コミュニティにかかわるデザインをとらえます。
Chapter 1, "The Power of Design," re-examines the very nature of design as an activity. Chapter 2, "Rethinking Society," highlights points that demand renewed reflection toward a good society. Chapter 3, "The Joy of Creation," explores design practices that help people find joy in making. Chapter 4, "The Friendliness of Things," focuses on design that invents objects considerate of people. Chapter 5, "Connecting People," examines design that fosters new communities.
本展示ではソーシャルデザインの基本となる考えとともに、関西の幾つかの事例を取り上げます。全体をとおして、良い社会に向けて、どのような場面において、どのような創意工夫がなされうるのかについて考えてみたいと思います。全部で44枚のシートを取って、バインダーに閉じることができます。自分で考えたことを書き込んだり、テーマについて意見を交わしたりするのにご利用ください。
This exhibition introduces the fundamental concepts of social design through several initiatives from the Kansai region. Throughout the exhibition, we invite you to reflect on what kinds of creativity can contribute to building a good society, and under what circumstances such creativity may emerge. A total of 45 sheets are available for you to collect in a binder. Please feel free to use them to exchange ideas about the topic presented.
